It is the established method of influencing the decisions and behaviors of foreign governments and peoples through dialogue, negotiation and other measures without resorting to war or violence. Modern diplomatic practices are a product of the European state system after the Renaissance. Historically, the concept of diplomacy means the management of formal relations – usually bilateral relations.
Among the sovereign states, and in the twentieth century, leading diplomatic practices were adopted in Europe all over the world, and the concept of diplomacy expanded to include summit meetings and other international conferences, parliamentary diplomacy and international activities for organizations and associations, which is the so-called parallel diplomacy or informal diplomacy through
Non-governmental elements, working in the international civil service.
As for the term diplomacy, it was derived from the ancient Greek word diploma, meaning the folded document.

In the eighteenth century, the French term “diplomat” came to refer to a person empowered to negotiate for the good of the state, and the concept of diplomacy should not be confused with foreign policy.
Diplomacy is the main tool of foreign policy – not the only one – developed by political leaders, which may be with advice from diplomats, while foreign policy sets goals, describes strategies, and adjusts the main tactics to be used in achieving goals, such as using secret agents or declaring war or any form
It is a form of violence in addition to diplomacy to achieve its goals, and diplomacy may be coercive but not violent, such as using the imposition of sanctions on a country.
And results in diplomatic talks in contemporary international relations.
Informal diplomacy Informal diplomacy, sometimes called second diplomacy or second-track diplomacy, has been used for centuries to communicate between the powers of the authorities.

Between the United States and China a great deal of diplomacy is conducted through semi-official channels using interlocutors such as members of the Academy in think tanks, and this occurs in cases where governments wish to express intentions or to suggest ways to resolve diplomatic positions but do not wish to express them formally
Track II diplomacy, which may sometimes be funded by governments, is a specific type of informal diplomacy in which non-officials – such as retired civilian and military officials – participate in dialogue with the aim of resolving disputes or building trust and establishing international political, economic and cultural relations.
